Park With Confidence at Monterey Regional Airport
There’s a Lot New with Parking at MRY
Flight booked from MRY – done! Next on the travel planning checklist is where to park at Monterey Regional Airport (MRY). Whether traveling through for a few days or stopping by the terminal for a few hours, passengers and visitors will be happy to know recent parking upgrades are delivering convenience and affordability, making it even easier to use MRY’s lots.
Long-Term Lot
The Long-Term Lot is the best-value choice for passengers parking overnight and on a longer trip. The newly constructed lot, which began opening in phases in June 2026, supports travelers flying through the legacy terminal and those using the replacement terminal when it opens in summer 2027. The fully automated experience allows customers to easily pay and get on their way and includes:
- Contactless payment: Secure, touchless transactions by waving a debit or credit card, smartphone, or smartwatch from the vehicle at the exit kiosk, and
- Digital receipts: After payment, simply scan the QR code on the back of the parking ticket to download a receipt within 48 hours of exiting.
Shuttle service is offered temporarily and daily between the Long-Term Lot and legacy terminal during peak travel periods. Travelers should arrive early to the lot if planning to use the shuttle to ensure on-time boarding. Look for the orange “SHUTTLE” flags for the pick-up locations, both in the lot and near the terminal’s second floor entrance.
The high-tech payment upgrades above will be available in MRY’s future Premium Parking Lot, which is currently under construction near the replacement terminal. The two new lots also feature landscaping with native trees irrigated with non-potable water.
Short-Term Lot and ADA Parking
For those taking a day trip, preferring the convenience of parking close to the terminal, or dining at Woody’s at the Airport Restaurant, the Short-Term Lot is the best option. The first 10 minutes of parking are free for those accompanying a passenger to the terminal.
Dedicated accessible parking is offered first-come, first-served at the Long-Term Lot rate. The discounted rate is applied upon exit after validation of an ADA placard or license plate.
The Short-Term Lot also offers ChargePoint electric vehicle charging stations, accessible 24/7, for active users and not departing passengers. The charging service is available for a $5.00 flat fee and standard short-term parking rates apply.
Short-Term (Premium) Lot
The Short Term (Premium) Lot is MRY’s closest and most convenient parking option to the legacy terminal as it allows for an easy transition to access the airline ticket counters and security checkpoint, and to the in-terminal elevator that provides the easiest accessible access to Woody’s and the observation deck.
MRY also recommends this lot for passenger pick-ups and drop-offs that require longer than the three minutes allowed for curbside parking as it offers 30 minutes of free parking.
Restaurant Validation
In the Short-Term and Short-Term (Premium) lots:
- Visitors dining at Woody’s receive two hours of validated parking with a $15 minimum purchase, and
- Debit and credit cards are accepted by using the payment kiosks at the lots’ exits, and cash payments are available by contacting customer service staff through the call button at the exit kiosk.
An additional $5.00 per hour is charged for vehicles actively using the ChargePoint stations in the Short-Term Lot beyond the two-hour restaurant validation period.
Peak Travel Parking Tips and Rates
During peak travel periods such as summer and holidays, the MRY team shares travel advisories with the public about when parking lots are reaching capacity. Those who live near the airport are encouraged to utilize other transportation options such as a rideshare or drop-off by a friend to keep spaces available for travelers coming from farther places.
