Monterey Peninsula Airport Terminal Modernization Underway

A groundbreaking ceremony for the Monterey Peninsula Airport's Terminal Modernization Project was held during the Special Board Meeting on February 22nd. General Manager Tom Greer, Chairman Richard Searle and Board Members, Bob DeVoe and Leonard McIntosh joined airport staff to mark the start of this project estimated to last fourteen months.

The Terminal Modernization Project includes seismic retrofitting of the original terminal building and expansion of the secured area. This work will greatly improve the traffic pattern for our passengers. America West/US Airways will be relocated to the East end of the terminal joining American, Delta and United Airlines. TSA Security Screening will be relocated to the center of the terminal at the current Baggage Claim site. The West end of the terminal will serve as the new Baggage Claim area.

Management of this project will be handled by Ausonio Construction. The General Contractor is DMC Construction and the Architect is The Jones Payne Group.

There should be relatively little impact on customers during the construction. However, the Golden Tee Restaurant will be shut down from early April through early 2007 for seismic retrofitting and remodeling.
