Local Students ‘Trying New Things’ During the Year-end Holidays at Monterey Regional Airport
Art Exhibit and Musical Performances Will Snazz Up and Jazz Up the Terminal Experience
Monterey, CA, Dec. 3, 2025 — The Monterey Regional Airport (MRY) is honored to host local students’ artworks and musical performances in the terminal building during December 2025. Locals and passengers are invited to enjoy the programs while visiting and traveling through MRY.
Art Exhibit: The All Saints Day School student art exhibit “Seas the Day” celebrates the local connection to the ocean and encourages pupils to embrace opportunities, try new things, and dive into learning with curiosity and confidence.
Artworks from the Carmel, Calif.-based school’s students, which highlights their creativity and joy of creating art that connects them to their community and the natural world around them, is on display in the terminal’s second level next to the Airport Administration Offices through mid-January 2026. A reception to meet the student-artists will be held on Dec. 9, from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Parking will be validated for attendees.
Musical Performances:
The Monterey High School music program will present a special holiday concert series on the first level of the terminal. A rapidly expanding program with over 250 students currently enrolled, the vocal arts program is under the direction of Chuck Fleming and the instrumental arts program is under the direction of Dr. Bill Ton. Performances are scheduled as follows:
Saturday, Dec. 6, 10 a.m. to Noon
“Tons of Jazz,” an instrumental and vocal jazz ensemble with performers from the school’s vocal arts program, will kick off the series with a number of standards and R&B and Motown hits.
Saturday, Dec. 13, 10 a.m. to Noon
The “Yacht Club,” playing wind, string, and rhythm instruments, will perform an original suite of jazz compositions that celebrates the beauty of the Monterey area, including movements such as “The Adobes,” “Cannery Row,” and “Asilomar.” The group’s premiere performance was at the Casa Munras Garden Hotel & Spa, in Historic Downtown Monterey, in September 2025 at the 30th anniversary celebration of Monterey’s union with sister city Nanao, Japan.
Friday, Dec. 19 – 4:30 to 6:30 p.m.
The schools’ jazz band will play a number of styles and genres.
Saturday, Dec. 20, 10 a.m. to Noon
A group of 35 band and orchestra students will assemble to perform a number of holiday classics, specifically orchestrated for the concert series at MRY.
“It is our great honor to showcase the artistic and musical talents of our local students at Monterey Regional Airport during the holiday season,” said Executive Director Chris Morello. “Through our youth’s contributions, our community and passengers will enjoy a brighter and lighter terminal experience as they visit and travel through our airport.”
“The Monterey High School music program is thrilled to be showcased at the Monterey Regional Airport for this special concert series,” said Ton, the school’s instrumental arts director.
