MONTEREY, CA, March 21, 2023 – The Monterey Peninsula Airport District Board of Directors has released a proclamation honoring Board Director Mary Ann Leffel’s long and distinguished service to the community and the Airport District.

“I, LisAnne Sawhney, Chair of the Monterey Peninsula Airport District, in concurrence with the Board of Directors, do hereby recognize Director Mary Ann Leffel and express our deep appreciation for her tremendous dedication to our local community and her unwavering commitment to the Monterey Peninsula Airport District,” the proclamation reads.

Leffel was appointed to the District’s Board of Directors on June 8, 2008, and elected to the Board on November 4, 2008. She has served almost four consecutive terms as a Board Director, with three terms as chairwoman, and has been a fierce advocate for the District.

Leffel has been deeply involved in the Monterey Peninsula community and serves, and has served, on numerous Monterey County boards and committees, including: LAFCO, Monterey County, Monterey County Workforce Development Board, the Business Services Committee, the Carmel Valley Art Association, Legal Services for Seniors, the Regional Taxi Authority, Monterey Peninsula Chamber of Commerce, Monterey County Overall Economic Development Commission, Natividad Hospital Board, Monterey County Agricultural Education, Monterey County Revolving Loan Fund, Meals on Wheel of the Monterey County, Monterey County Film Commission, Carmel Business Association, Old Monterey Business Association, United Way Monterey County, and Seaside’s Economic Development Commission.

On February 24, 2023, Leffel was honored by the Monterey County Business Council with their Lifetime Achievement Award.
