Monterey Regional Airport to Conduct Triennial Emergency Exercise
Monterey, CA – Monterey Regional Airport will conduct its federally mandated Triennial Emergency Exercise on airport property Tuesday, May 27th 1:00 PM. Airport staff will coordinate the exercise in collaboration with the Monterey Fire Department. The emergency exercise is a readiness and coordination drill required by the Federal Aviation Administration. It aims to create a realistic simulation of emergency conditions.
Fire Departments: Monterey Fire Department, Cal Fire Local Engine, Marina Fire Department, Monterey County Regional Fire Protection District, North County Fire Protection District, Presidio of Monterey Fire Department.
First Responders: American Medical Response (AMR), Carmel Fire Ambulance (CFA), California Shock Trauma Air Rescue Ambulance (Calstar), Monterey County Regional Fire Ambulance.
Law Enforcement: Monterey Airport Police Department
Transportation: Monterey-Salinas Transit
Hospitals: Community Hospital of the Monterey Peninsula (CHOMP),
Other assistance: Community Emergency Response Teams (CERT), FAA Monterey Air Traffic Control Tower, Monterey County Emergency Communications (Fire Comm), Monterey County Office of Emergency Services (OES), Monterey County Public Health Department, United Express, United States Coast Guard
Over 70 volunteer participants representing travelers and families will assist in the drill.
Emergency vehicles along with fire, rescue vehicles and life flight helicopters are expected to respond as part of the drill.
The emergency exercise will not affect scheduled passenger flights or traffic on local streets.
Monterey Regional Airport is committed to the safety of the passengers and users of MRY and this simulated training provides annual certification for the ARFF Technicians required by the Federal Aviation Administration’s compliance for commercial service airports.
