Monterey Regional Airport, JSX Collaborate with Military Organizations to Bring Gold Star Mother to Monterey to Participate at a Mother’s Day Event
MONTEREY, CA, May 10, 2023 – In a show of support for a Gold Star mother who lost her son in Afghanistan in 2014, the Monterey Regional Airport and JSX collaborate to fly her from Orange County so she can attend a Mother’s Day tribute for Gold Star parents in Carmel Valley this weekend.
Catherine Trevino, whose son was a native of Monterey County, will be welcomed home to Monterey on Thursday night, supported in her transportation on a JSX flight from John Wayne Airport in Orange County direct to Monterey Regional Airport. She will then be reunited with her family and fellow survivors and honored at the Gold Star Mother’s Day presentation Saturday at Stonepine Estate in Carmel Valley.
The Airport and JSX collaborated with the Army Survivor Outreach Services (SOS) office under the Directorate of Family and MWR Presidio of Monterey, Army Community Service Program to support and honor Trevino whose son Edward Balli, a drone pilot and career military Chief Warrant Officer was shot and killed in Afghanistan in 2014. After his camp was attacked by enemy forces.
Ms. Trevino arrives at 200 Sky Park Drive at 7:10 PM on Thursday, after taking off from John Wayne Airport at 5:55 PM.
