FAA NOTAMs Statement
Normal air traffic operations are resuming gradually across the United States following an overnight outage to the FAA’s Notice to Air Missions (NOTAM) system that provides safety information to flight crews. The ground stop has been lifted. The agency continues to look into the cause of the initial problem.
Design of new airport terminal to start next year
Work could be complete by 2027
Design work on a brand-new terminal at Monterey Regional Airport is set to begin next month, and the whole project should be done in four years at an estimated cost of $50 million to $60 million, executive director Mike La Pier said Thursday. “First and foremost, the mission is to improve the safety and meet FAA standards,” he said. “We’ve been out of compliance for some time because our current building is too close to the taxiway and the runway.”

MONTEREY – The Monterey Regional Airport announced it has received another grant from the Department of Transportation for the design and construction of a new terminal, bringing the total in grants from the bipartisan infrastructure bill to $4.28 million.

MONTEREY, CA. (Dec. 5, 2022) — The Monterey Regional Airport opens its Holiday Military Lounge again to welcome active-duty military travelers beginning Dec. 16, and running through Dec. 26, 2022.
Military flyers can enjoy free meals, snacks, beverages (including wine donated from Twisted Roots Winery in Carmel Valley), comfortable seating, and free WiFi while they are waiting for flights home to visit their families for the holidays.

American Airlines upgrade aircraft to Monterey airport
MONTEREY – Expanded service between Monterey Regional Airport and Dallas/Fort Worth will provide more seats for travelers as American Airlines makes an upgrade to the aircraft used on the route. Public Scoping Meeting for Environmental Assessment (EA) for Proposed Airport Safety Enhancement Project
Monterey, CA (November 28, 2016) – Michael La Pier, Executive Director for the Monterey Regional Airport (Airport), announced today that a Public Scoping Meeting will be held for the Environmental Assessment (EA) that is currently being prepared to consider the potential environment impacts of the proposed Airport Safety Enhancement Project for Taxiway “A” Relocation and Associated Building Relocations (proposed project) at the Airport. The Scoping Meeting will be held on Tuesday, December 6, 2016 from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the Airport District Board Room on the second floor of the Airport Terminal, at 200 Fred Kane Drive, Monterey CA 93940. The meeting format is an informal open house and interested parties are invited to stop by to view maps and displays, communicate with Airport staff, and provide their written comments. Airport staff will be available to gather the public’s thoughts about what alternatives and environmental impacts should be studied in the environmental analysis.

Airlines encouraged to launch new nonstop flights
Monterey, CA – The Monterey Peninsula Airport District Board of Directors approved extending the Air Service Incentive Program for airlines to encourage nonstop service to new destinations from Monterey Regional Airport. The top destinations the airport is seeking include Seattle, Dallas/Ft Worth, Denver and Mexico. The Air Service Incentive Program was originally approved in 2014 and was set to expire on March 31, 2016. It has been extended for an additional two years.

Airport Completes Runway Safety Area Improvements Project
Monterey, CA - Monterey Regional Airport General Manager Mike La Pier today announced the completion of the Airport’s federally mandated Runway Safety Area (RSA) Improvements Project. “I want to congratulate my Board of Directors, my staff, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), consultants, construction contractors as well as the community, traveling public and users who have all supported this project the past several years.” As of today, the Instrument Landing System (ILS) has been returned to service when the new procedures were published and available.
